…When are you going to make a commitment to be GREAT?
Think of a leader you most admire and what you needed most from them in order to bring your best self to work? This exercise will inevitably conjure up such personal traits as trustworthy, composed, courageous, gracious, assertive, inspiring, confident, consistent and more commendable traits. But notice that what you won’t mention you needed are business competencies because these are a given! If a leader is not competent, let’s hope they didn’t make it into a leadership role at all. Notice also that there are people with big titles who are competent, intelligent and very driven, but they are still a jerk.
